Organising your artist's portfolio website

Graphic and plastic artists may find it a diffocult task selecting their work for presenting it in a digital portfolio. Here are a few simple yet effective rules to follow when presenting your work in your portfolio website :
1. Sort your most recent work by themes.
2. Add a subfolder for each main theme, grouping them by subject.
3. Display your past work by year. Choose between showing only a few samples or repeating the same hierarchy adopted for your recent work within the year's folder. Years' folders themselves are better presented in decreasing order.
4. Add a bio page, including some info about yourself, your inspiration and work process.
5. Don't put prices together with your work in the portfolio or a buy button. Low brow artists can keep a shop with prints and other artwork on their website, separated from your work presentation,
6. Include your contact details in a page accessed by the main menu or at the bottom of your profile/about page.
"That is the usual way artists do it and, in website design, your audience will have a better user experience if the navigation is presented as expected. This is the first step to be followed when organising your artist's portfolio website."
